NEHA is a non-profit association committed to fostering and promoting high standards for those working in the field of environmental
health, and the qualifications for engaging therein.
NEHA endeavors to bring about harmonious and cooperative effort for the better
understanding and more efficient rendering of the duties and responsibilities of environmental health specialists. We strive for recognition
of these duties and responsibilities from both public and official sources as a scientific group, as rendering an environmental health
service for the general welfare of the public.
NEHA encourages reciprocal cooperation of the various branches and
departments of government
in activities directed toward the improvement of the public health.
NEHA encourages work toward the certification and registration
of Environmental Health Specialists on a state and national basis and to professionalize their status.
NEHA consists primarily as an
organization of volunteers dedicated to the
environmental health profession, which includes the protection of public health and the
environment. Most of our members are employed by local government agencies that regulate retail food establishments, public swimming
pools, land use, septic systems, landfills, domestic and environmental wells, and much more.
